Stephen P. Hendrix, Sr.

Stephen P. Hendrix, Sr., 59 of Tybee Island, GA entered into the presence of his Savior on Wednesday, September 8, 2011. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He retired as Fire Chief of the Tybee Island Fire Dept. and retired from the GA Army National Guard. He was a member of the Tybee M.R.S and Chatham Artillery.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Charles R. and Margaret M. Hendrix.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Jayne Hendrix, three sons, Stephen, Kenneth, and Donald, and two daughters-in-law, Laura and Aimee. He was "Papa" to 8 grandchildren, Bradley, Landry, Dylan, Jadon, Kenner, Emma, Sarah, and Clayton. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Charles R. and Thomas L. Hendrix, and many extended family members.
Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2011 with a Christian Wake Service at 4:00 p.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2011 at St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Active pallbearers will be his nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Tybee Island Fire Department.
Remembrances may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, Tybee Island, GA.

The flashlight, the damn weather channel, and getting rides home after school from BC sitting on top a pile of books in the back of the car. These are some of my Uncle Steve memories. The roman candle incident on twin palms sparks a memory but I'll save that one for another day. Uncle Steve, thank you for helping me out on so many things.
